Front room

Before

Our front room was dark with dirty walls and ugly pink carpet.

Nate ripped out the carpet and decomposing foam underlay as soon as we moved in.

Next we removed the faux bamboo wallpaper and painted.

We started with a good cleaning with TSP to take off years of grime and dirt.

Then painted our built-in a lovely turquoise.

Of course under Pixel’s watchful eye.

The rest of room was painted a neutral gray.

We were lucky to inherit a couch and two chairs with linen slipcovers. We added accessories from our travels plus bargain finds at thrift stores, Ross and Marshals to create a beachy theme.

We bought the Tarnby rug and Expedit coffee table at IKEA to finish the look.

Our new picture window was installed last summer and completely changed the front room. It’s now my favorite place to read.
